ship to shore is a new record label from record collector and gentleman of the night craig richards. the first release is by pbr streetgang made specifically with craig in mind, the release also includes a remix by craig himself. pbr streetgang delivery a great ep of wayward hedonistic-house. ‘in the turret’ has been causing somewhat of a commotion, of late, on discerning dance-floors. on the flip craig offers up a drawn out electro break-beat take on ‘in the turret’, which is equally as beguiling. the ep also features the deep disco leanings of ‘affordable excellence’ and the psychedelic ‘apocalypse tool’.
having been recently shortlisted for the scottish album of the year award, we follow up theory of flo with some stellar remixes from friends and associates. first up highlife label mates, mehmet aslan and cain deliver the goods on cape malay prayer and hewal3 - as to be expected. what wasn t planned was this sublime rework by the revenge. we felt so precious about waiting for a (woman) - convinced that the original was too good to be tampered with - until an unexpected turn of events brought our fellow glaswegian (and say nominee) to the controls, resulting in a sophisticated rework for the dancefloor - who better really when you think about it?! released on vinyl courtesy of highlife x h+p this summer. more remixes on the way..

liam blackburn s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style. each remixer chose their own track from night of visions to work with. the first name on our remix list was swedish producer and northern electronics label head - abdulla rashim. choosing invocations , his remix focuses on the hypnotic power of the original, turning the tune into a golden loop with subtle kick drum stabs, sweeping percussion and a dangling tension that hangs through the entire 7.33 minutes. asc & sam kdc chose feathered serpent and using just touches of the original tune have masterfully built an all new backbone that demonstrates clearly the ability of the grey area sound to work at 2 different tempo s and weld together with straight techno.

oona dahl joined us at all day i dream last year both as a dj and recording artists. her first release high eyes was featured on our summer sampler and floated onto the dance floor and into the consciousness of dj s around the world. oona studied sound design in the usa before moving to berlin over the summer of 2015 to continue honing and crafting her sound. her first full ep for adid features deep dreamscapes and innovative arrangements underpinned by solid grooves that capture emotive, twisted melodic expressions. she and her music are a trip to the depths.

nicolas belligoli alias mtd is one of the founders of the label sonntag morgen. he expresses and develops a techno / dub with dark, melancholic and industrial influences. his melodies are sharp and give a new and powerful rhythm. he was noted for the quality of his release (affin record, abstract animal, arts digital...) especially for his work on nachtstrom schallplatten in 2015 (“substances & perceptions” double lp).
born in sao paulo to a deeply religious family, laercio has been around music all his life - amidst the challenges of daily life, his adventist parents would whip out all sorts of instruments whenever the situation would allow it, introducing a young and curious mind to a wide range of musical expressions. it should come as no surprise, then, that our hero quickly felt at home with notes and bars, choosing the flute as his first weapon of choice which he eagerly studied from the age of seven. even later non-musical career choices always reflected an infatuation with the world of sounds, like his stint as a capoeira teacher, combining martial arts, acrobatics and dance. with such a multi-faceted background in music, the inevitable tinkering with synthesizers and other means of electronic sound generation was rather a question of time than one of ambition, and sure enough we find laercio roaming the parties of the mid-noughties, absorbing the unique melange of styles and scales that inform club culture to this day. in stark contrast to most other rave inductees at the time, however, he never wanted to become a dj: his area of expertise is the performance, not the collecting and curating of other people s releases, and it shows in the unusual fact that laercio has held club residencies as a live electronic musician in venues like sao paulo s the edge without ever so much as touching a record. in these release l_cio has worked with d.o.c. mastermind gui boratto. and the result is music for the dancefloor.

the excellent field label embarks on a new mini trilogy of eps that will -present a magical journey through modern-day trance.- first up in the series is artefakt with their three track effort the final theory. dutch producers robin koek and nick lapien make up artefakt, and between them they excel at moody voodoo music on labels like delsin. they open this latest ep with the title track, a deep, spacious house roller with subtle pads and gentle acid that perform slow motion acrobatics for nearly ten minutes. it is suspensory, dreamy music that works on the head as well as the heel. moving horizon is then less doleful and introspective but just as deep, with sweeping pads add a sense of scale, busy drums bring the dynamism and icy percussive sounds adding a sense of urgency. last but not least, solaris is a fatter, more physical groove with claps and gloopy bass, acid flashes and trancey pads all fleshing out a lush and deep electro workout. this is heavenly stuff that cannot fail to get inside your head and heart.

kid flicks is the music project started by greek producer and songwriter nickos devisis. highly in?uenced by the bright side of contemporary athenian life, multiculturalism and the internet culture, kid flicks created a unique sound which draws from various genres and styles. from electronic to sample-based music to psych pop to world music, the album full of upbeat pop melodies, explosive percussion and greek, middle eastern and african music references. kid flicks third album kid flicks and first with an updated 3-piece line up, will be released by klik records in greece and wordandsound in the rest of europe on late june. on december 2015 they showcased at glimps festival in belgium and their creative process and involvement in the athenian music scene were one of the subjects of cbc arts documentary series interrupt this program. they currently work with brooklyn-based pr agency drunken piano (carpark, yep roc) and booker jj pallis (boogarins).

the second of two zentrum spinoffs is with us! as with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. octo octa, vito & druzzi, cooper saver and turbotito, and lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off jacques renault s debut lp, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. octo octas rendering of mi casa samba serves as a propulsive beginning thats as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. vito & druzzis take on faith runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way, it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. the b s remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that s not to say they re not bold. cooper saver and turbotito s redo of words has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. the lemonade boys close the ep with their vibey take on faith. pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original s sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. a fitting way to end both the 12inch and the summer.

given that cocktail d amore s first entry into the re-edit arena, cockring d amore, landed almost a year ago, this follow-up is long overdue. whereas that ep featured a trio of reworks from the extended family, both tracks on this solid 7- (snigger) come from berlin-based dj/producer trent. he begins with the cheery european disco of -the acrobat-, where prominent horn lines rise and fall over slick funk guitars and shimmering strings. flip for the cosmic disco-meets-cosmic rock masculinity of -the fool-, a killer fusion of elastic slap bass, eyes closed guitar solos and occasional blasts of glam rock vocals. whip off your t-shirt and get to it (dancing, that is).
